MINUTES OF JUNE 26, 2007, MEETING OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL OF VOLUSIA AND FLAGLER COUNTIES

Board Members Present: Betty O’Laughlin, John Baker, Robert Haviland, Pat Williams, Don White, Sharon Rich, Alexa Ross, Brynn Newton
Group Representatives Present: Kathy Booth, Southeast Volusia Audubon Conservation
The minutes of the April 24, 2007, meeting were approved.

Robert Haviland made a motion to send a letter to the News-Journal concerning Volusia County’s and the cities’ lack of long-range planning regarding water resources; the failure to take into account the impact of rising sea level on the beach; and energy costs. John Baker stated that such a letter should at the outset counter the inevitable protest that planning is apparently already mandated by statute, and specify that it is the lack of action that is being addressed. Robert Haviland withdrew the motion, stating that he will submit the letter under his own name.

A motion made by Don White and seconded by John Baker passed, to elect the nominating committee’s slate of officers for 2007-2008:

John Baker - Vice-President
Robert Haviland - Corresponding Secretary
Brynn Newton - Recording Secretary
Don White - Treasurer
Directors-at-Large: Dot Carlson, Sharon Rich, Alexa Ross, and Pat Williams
